October HHCBC Meeting at BrewSA

Join Us on Tuesday, October 16th as BrewSA Brewing Company in Freeport, NY hosts the Secondary Round of the HHCBC’s ‘Last Brewer Standing’ Homebrew Competition! Eight Brewers Remain in the competition. Anyone in attendance will have the opportunity to sample classic styles and vote for the best classic example in each category. The People’s Champ will be crowned and BJCP Judges will weigh in on which entry is most exemplary to classic style. Both educational and a whole lotta fun!

And let’s not forget, BrewSA’s awesome taplist, including recently released Pumpkin Ale and Pilsner Light! 

Our meetings are free to attend and open to guests over the age of 21. 

The usual BJCP Feedback Table will be in effect, so bring some homebrew to share and discuss!

Club Raffle will also be in full effect, with some quite tasty donations already submitted. More donations are always welcome on the day of the event!

September HHCBC Meeting at The Craft House

Join Us on September 18th for our monthly HHCBC Meeting! This month, we’re excited to announce the fine folks of The Craft House on the Nautical Mile, Freeport, will be hosting the club! Bob, Liam, Vincent and the crew will open the doors for our meeting. Excellent food and phenomenal beer menu, brought to you by the same fine gentlemen who brought us The Black Sheep, the Craft House will be an event not to be missed! The BJCP homebrew feedback table and traditional raffle will be held. As always, our meetings are free to attend and all are welcome to bring guests. Let’s pack the place out for The Craft House! We’re looking forward to seeing everyone on 9/18!

August Club Meeting at BrewSA

Join the Brigade as we have our August Club Meeting at BrewSA Brewing Co., in Freeport, NY! (180 Woodcleft Ave, Freeport, NY 11520) 7:30 PM – 10:00 PM

Meetings are Free to Attend and ALL ARE WELCOME!

Our meeting will be the battleground for the primary round of the HHCBC Last Brewer Standing Homebrew Competition. Sixteen Brewers, Eight Styles, in a knockout round for the ages. Styles will be judged by BJCP Ranked Judges to see which eight brewers get to move from primary to secondary in October. There will be a ‘People’s Choice’ Vote for the Best of the Sweet Sixteen, as well!

The usual Club Announcements, Happening, Raffles and Homebrew Feedback Table will also be taking place.

July 2018 Meeting at Garvies Point Brewery

Our July Club Meeting will bring us to Garvies Point Brewery (1 Garvies Point Rd, Glen Cove, NY 11542) – Tuesday, July 17th at 7:30 PM. Mark & Ben have been turning out delicious brews on the north shore of Nassau County—you’re not going to want to miss out!

Winners of the June Club Competition will be announced! Our last meeting to Garvies Point brought a packed house, so let’s do it again! Bring a friend and let’s share some beer at Garvies Point Brewery!

 

 

 

 

Pour the Core: Long Island – Sept. 29, 2018

Join the Grendae Brigade as we participate in the 7th Annual Pour the Core Cider Festival, Saturday, September 29th, 2018, at Heckscher State Park. Purchase tickets through Starfish Junction at http://www.pourthecore.com/longisland/

Several members of the brigade will be sharing samples of craft ciders and tips on how to make your own cider! Learn from our homebrewers through educational discussions while sampling ciders from all over Long Island!

John Palmer Visits Long Island!

On Saturday, July 14th, Homebrew Legend, John Palmer, author of How to Brew, will be visiting The Brewer’s Collective in Bay Shore, NY. John will be brewing with the Collective and discussing beer and brewing with members of the Association of Long Island Homebrew Clubs: HHCBC, LIBME and B.E.E.R. This is a great event to meet the man who literally ‘wrote the book’ on How to Brew, inspiring the masses to join the craft! Contact the club for details.

Social Brew Day! (Charter Members Only)

2018 Charter Members are welcome to join us for our next Social Brew Day! Sunday, July 8th, 2018.

Hosted by our Director of Education, join several of our award-winning homebrewers on an interactive brew-day. Four batches of homebrew will be created from grain to boil, each with a different style of brewing. Learn techniques for All-Grain, BIAB, Partial Mash and Extract brewing on various systems. Learn about new styles of beer and partake in our homebrew bottle swap!
