Craft Ale Fundraiser for Museum Education Programs! #WAST

HHCBC will be participating in an awesome new event for 2019 . . .

On June 8, 2019,
Hosted by The Whaling Museum & Education Center of Cold Spring Harbor

Celebrate World Oceans Day while you sample beers, ales, and ciders from local Long Island breweries. Tour the museum, enjoy live sea shanties with “Sampawam’s Creek,” take part in an hourly “whaleboat chat” or stop by a workshop for some “ale tales.” All proceeds benefit the Museum Education programs, including camp scholarships for families in need.

Please note this is a 21+ event. No one will be admitted without valid photo ID.

April Club Meeting at Small Craft Brewing Co.

Join us in April as we return to Small Craft Brewing Company, in Amityville! Gregory and Gerard are once again opening the doors for the Club.

We’ll be looking to recap the NHC First Round of competition and partake in a group style comparison.

The usual homebrew feedback table will be open, bring a bottle or few to share and discuss.

Our meetings are open to anyone age 21+. Bring a friend!

March Club Meeting at The Smith’s Modern

Join us on Tuesday, March 19th for our next club meeting in East Rockaway. ( 451 Atlantic Avenue, East Rockaway, New York 11518 ) This month brings us to a new and exciting venue, The Smith’s Modern. Owner and Host, Eamon McGowan is opening the doors for the club and offering an excellent food menu and a variety of craft beer. You’re not going to want to miss this event! Meeting starts around 7:30 PM but the restaurant will be open for dinner at 6:00 PM.

There will be a style discussion taking place during the meeting and homebrew feedback table, so bring something to share. BJCP judges will be on hand for anyone looking for constructive feedback. Raffle prizes are sure to not disappoint. Donations for the raffle are always welcome.

Our meetings are open to new members and guests over 21 yrs of age, so bring a friend! Memberships will also be available for those looking to take the plunge and join the brigade. See you there!

Homebrew: Sour Style Class

Limited Space! We are hosting a sour style class on Sunday, March 3rd at BrewSA in Freeport, NY. The Club’s Education Director, Tom Weber, will be discussing sour beers, styles, recipes and attributes of classic examples.

February Club Meeting at The Black Sheep Ale House

Join Us on Tuesday, February 19th for our February Club Meeting at The Black Sheep! Our meetings are open to anyone interested in craft beer and/or homebrew; all are invited! We will be going over the many upcoming events, festivals, homebrew competitions and education classes planned for March and April while sharing in some delicious brews on tap at the legendary Black Sheep Ale House. Registration from the upcoming Sour Style Class will be open during the meeting. For anyone with homebrew to share, or questions to ask, the BJCP feedback table will be open at 7:15 PM. The usual raffle will be in effect, donations to the raffle are always welcome.

2019 Charter Memberships are available ($25/Individual; $40/Family; Add $10 to either membership to join the Tri-Club Association of Long Island Homebrew Clubs to get the shared benefits of LIBME; B.E.E.R & HHCBC). Possible announcement of the Spring Tri-Club Social may take place during the meeting as well. Don’t miss out!

January Club Meeting at WA Meadwerks

I feel the need, the need for MEAD!

Let’s ring in the new year and get warm in the winter with some sweet honey wine (or a nice semi-sweet melomel). W.A. Meadwerks, our local Meadery (26 West Hoffman Ave., Lindenhurst, New York 11757) will be hosting the Brigade on Tuesday, January 15th from 7:30-10pm. 

Friends of the club, Roger Waner and Joe Abruzzo, Jr., will be graciously hosting the club at their delicious mead taproom (YES! MEAD ON TAP!). We may even have a quick style discussion for those unfamiliar with this ancient treat. With several taps of well-crafted mead, you’ll definitely not want to miss out on this event! Just a short walk from the Lindenhurst LIRR Station on the Babylon line, plan your travels accordingly. (Added bonus, there’s an awesome pizzeria across the street and a German restaurant around the corner for those looking to pad your bellies before the beverages commence, so arrive early!)

As usual, the BJCP Feedback table and club raffle will be in full effect. 2019 Memberships will be available for renewals and new Charter Members. Bring a friend!

 

Last Brewer Standing – December 18th

The finale of the Last Brewer Standing is upon us!

Join us on Tuesday, December 18th as we find out which homebrewer will earn the inaugural award for HHCBC Last Brewer Standing. 

Kevin McKenna, Mike Plante, Mike Gallagher and Christopher Cerney battle out with their best Scottish Heavy to earn bragging rights! Winning brew will be announced at the 2018 Holiday Meeting at Barrier Brewing Co. in Oceanside. 

 

December Club Meeting and Holiday Gathering

Join us on Tuesday, December 18th for a festive celebration to end 2018! Barrier Brewing Co., (3001 New Street, Unit A2, Oceanside, NY 11572), will be hosting our annual holiday meeting once again.

The Finale of the HHCBC LAST BREWER STANDING Homebrew Competition will be taking place prior to the meeting and the 2018 winners will be crowned.

The 2019 Club Board of elected officers will be announced and 2019 Club Memberships will be available for sign-up.

Our annual White Elephant Gift Exchange will be taking place for charter members.  Monthly Club Raffle will also be available for all attendees.

Our meetings are always free to attend and friends are always welcome. Plan your travels accordingly; Use “HHCBC” or “HHCBC1” to get discounts with our transportation partner, Lyft.

 

 

 

November Club Meeting at The Brewer’s Collective

Join Us on Tuesday, November 20th at 7:30 PM, as we descend upon The Brewer’s Collective in Bay Shore, NY. Our November Meeting will include the live-sampling and judging of The Iron Brewer team challenge. Seven teams of Homebrewers will by battling for the best Homebrewed Holiday Beer! Anyone in attendance can vote!

Charter Members will also be voting for the 2019 Board positions.

Join the festivities as we kick off the holidays with homebrew!

For anyone with homebrew to share, the BJCP Feedback table will be open for sampling and constructive discussions.

The usually awesome club raffle will be in full effect. Some tasty prizes will be up for grabs! Donations are always welcome!

Brew for a Cure – November 4th at The Well, Brooklyn, NY

An event in which homebrewers and local breweries will work together to help raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Cancer Research Hospital.

The event is an open-style homebrew competition consisting of judge’s votes, people’s choice, and more! Along with the awesome homebrew, there will be local breweries pouring their beer.

There will be raffles and games with cool prizes and gear up for the taking!

All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Charity.

This ticket includes an official tasting glass, unlimited samples, and acts as your donation for this great cause!

Let’s do what we can to give back and help families and the children effected through their difficult times while having a great day filled with beer, prizes and more!
